595 constables pass promotion test

LAHORE: Lahore Police has provisionally declared 595 candidates as successful in the examination held for promotion to the post of head constable.

B-I professional examination was held on April 2 under the departmental committee headed by SSP Admin Muntazir Mehdi.

A total of 2,503 male and female constables had applied for the examination however 2,136 candidates appeared in the written test. Moreover, papers of three candidates were cancelled due to technical reasons.

The departmental promotional committee after examining the papers declared that 595 constables have passed the test. Final results would be announced after scrutiny of successful candidates.

After the interviews for the B-I examination qualified candidates would be promoted to the slot of head constable.

The DIG stated this while presiding over a meeting to review the performance of Dolphin and PRU at Dolphin Headquarters, Walton Road. Lahore SSP Operations Captain (R) Mustansir Feroze, Dolphin Squad SP Bilal Zafar, SP Cantt Shehbaz Elahi, divisional DSPs and sector in charges of Dolphin and PRU were also present.

Bilal informed the DIG about the performance of Dolphin and PRU units. He said Dolphin Squad has created a positive image of Police in the eyes of citizens through their street crime controlling efficiency and timely help of people on the roads.

He urged to further strengthen the performance and capacity building of Dolphin and PRU.

The DIG said non-stop patrolling by Dolphin units on busy roads and in congested areas has surely foiled many attempts of crimes and downgraded the crime rate in the metropolis.

criminals arrested: Lahore police (Cantt Division) have arrested as many as 200 criminals and recovered eight pistols, two rifles, bullets, more than nine kilograms of Charas and 210 litres of liquor.

Police have arrested 45 proclaimed offenders of A&B categories in cases of dacoity, theft, Cheque dishonor, fraud and other crimes were arrested along with 54 court offenders. Police also recovered thousands of rupees from gamblers.

Police have also arrested 39 criminals for violating kite flying, one wheeling, aerial firing and loudspeaker acts.

accidents: Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue-1122) responded to 1,096 road accidents in Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Ten people died, whereas 1,264 were injured in these accidents. Out of the injured, 773 with serious injuries were shifted to hospitals whereas, 491 with minor injuries were provided with the first-aid on the spot by the rescue teams.

The rescue data showed 480 drivers, 32 underage drivers, 186 pedestrians and 608 passengers were among the victims of these road accidents.

The statistics showed 262 accidents were reported in Lahore, 119 in Faisalabad and 64 in Gujranwala. The details further revealed that 767 motorbikes, 158 auto-rickshaws, 122 motorcars, 91 vans, 17 passenger buses, 37 trucks and 125 other types of auto-vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in these road accidents.
