ISLAMABAD: Countrywide protest demonstrations and rallies were held on Friday to express solidarity with oppressed Rohingya Muslims who are being subjected to untold brutalities by religious extremists in Myanmar.
The protest day was observed all over the country on appeal of ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Senator Sirajul Haq and leadership of other religious parties as the faithful who were also joined by minorities took to streets to condemn massacre of Muslims in Myanmar. The speakers in their speeches also condemned announcement of death sentences to Islamists in Bangladesh and Egypt.
Other religious organisations like Jamaatud Daawa (JuD) and Sunni Tehreek also organised protest rallies after Jumaa prayers to highlight plight of Rohingya Muslims and draw attention of the international community towards their genocide.
The activists of JI, JuD and other religious parties established camps outside mosques to highlight issue of Myanmar Muslims and invite the faithful join voice against oppression on their Muslim brothers.
The National Assembly and Senate had also passed unanimous resolutions to express solidarity with Rohingya Muslims calling upon the United Nations, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and human rights organisations to intervene the killing of Muslims in Myanmar.Sirajul Haq will also lead a protest demonstration at Parade Ground tomorrow (Sunday).
