DCs directed to probe issuance of fake arms licences
LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has instructed Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of all the districts of the province to initiate inquiry against issuance of fake licences of arms and take custody of the record/registers of these licences, The News has learnt.
According to the document available with The News, a fact finding committee had been constituted to probe into the matter of fake, illegal, forged and fabricated arms licences issued from the District Lahore. During the inquiry, the Home Department observed that similar scam/fraud existed in all districts (Arms Licences Branches) of Punjab province. It is mentioned in the document that the fact finding committee in its report observed that hundreds of arms licences had been issued from District Lahore involving millions of rupees which caused a huge loss to the government. The Home Department has instructed all the DCs to get the inquiry completed by 30th May, 2019.
