115 new land record centres to be set up in Punjab: minister

LAHORE: With a view to providing facilities relating to Fard and mutation of lands to the growers at their doorsteps, the Punjab government is all set to establish 115 new Land Record Centres (LRCs) in the province with the cost of Rs2.19 billion.

These centres will recover their entire cost within a period of one and a half years of their establishment and will also generate millions of rupees every year. Punjab Minister for Revenue Malik Muhammad Anwar disclosed this while addressing a press conference here Thursday about different measures and new initiatives taken by the BoR and Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) during the last eight months.

The minister said zero-tolerance had been adopted against corruption adding that all the revenue officers and junior staff of districts and divisions had been warned in this regard. Dilating upon the PLRA performance, the minister said the Authority had collected revenue of Rs1.44 billion during the financial year 2017-18. He added that PLRA would easily achieve the revenue targets set for the current financial year.

Malik Anwar said that BoR had saved a sum of Rs1.817 billion and surrendered it to the finance department. He informed that the service structure of tehsildars and naib tehsildars was being prepared on a fast-track basis for their timely promotion as the same was lying pending due to the negligence of past rulers.

The minister said that tribal area of Koh-e-Suleman in Dera Ghazi Khan had been converted into the settlement area by uplifting its status to the level of a tehsil which would help in resolving their problems relating to Fard and mutation of lands at the local level. To a question relating to pending cases of litigation in the BoR, the minister maintained that all the judicial members had been directed to visit all the nine divisions of the province for early settlement of the pending cases.

hospital: Provincial Minister for Human Rights & Minority Affairs Ijaz Alam Augustine Thursday paid a surprise visit to Social Security Hospital, Multan Road, Lahore. He visited wards of the hospital and inquired about health of patients. The minister also presented flowers to the patients and showed satisfaction over the condition of cleanliness. Patients shared their problems with the minister, while the minister ordered to resolve the problems of the patients.

The minister said sudden visits would be continued to ensure human rights in hospitals. Social Security Hospital MS Dr Khalid and PMA President Ashraf Nizami were also present.
