60pc KP primary schoolteachers can’t teach syllabus
PESHAWAR: The teachers of government primary schools in Khabir Pakhtuns Khawan (KPK) are unable to teach 60 per cent syllabus to their students, according to an official report.
According to the report, these teachers do not understand their subjects. The report says these teachers do not have ability to properly teach their students because they are not good at their subjects.
Only 30 to 40 percent teachers have skills to teach their students and only 15 to 30 per cent teachers have ability of teaching their students.
In Urdu language only 30 per cent teachers have ability to teach their students whereas 35 percent teachers have the ability to teach English subject to their students.
According to Teacher Content Knowledge Assessment Report 2018, a test was held for 2,773 teachers of 1800 schools of 25 districts. In the test 1,773 teachers obtained average 40 per cent numbers in Math, English, Urdu and Science.
KPK CM’s adviser on Education Ziaullah Bangish admits that government school teachers do not have ability of teaching their students. He alleged that the previous governments did not hire teachers on merit.
Teachers now are being given training to improve their skill of teaching students, he said. According to the report, seven thousand teachers got retirement on the issue that they could not teach their students properly. New teachers are being hired through NTS.
