Sindh Agriculture Minister Muhammad Ismail Rahu has said complaint cells will be established at the offices of deputy commissioners in every district of Sindh to ensure that prices of the commodities of daily use are not unduly increased during the coming holy month of Ramazan.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the provincial minister said the deputy commissioner in every district has been asked to check and control prices of essential commodities on a daily basis, especially during Ramazan.
The provincial government has decided to launch a crackdown against shopkeepers and vendors who would jack up the prices of vegetables, fruits, wheat flour, sugar, cooking oil, and other essential edible items during the sacred month of Ramazan, Rahu said.
The minister also warned people associated with the milk business to refrain from profiteering or else stern action would be taken against them for causing financial burden on people during Ramazan.
Rahu said that the Sindh government would safeguard the people of the province from inflation and price hike caused by the ill-advised and anti-people economic policies of the present federal government. He alleged that present price hike and inflation had been caused by the federal government to extend undue advantage to cronies of the rulers in Islamabad.
He asked the consumers to duly lodge complaints of any price hike with the complaint cells to be established in the offices of deputy commissioners across the province.
