Corruption major hurdle to progress: Buzdar
LAHORE: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said the government is working by day and night with the determination of absolute elimination of corruption under the vibrant leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The PTI government has promoted the trend of transparency in public affairs. He said that zero-tolerance against corruption is yielding positive results as we are taking effective measures at every step to eradicate corruption by promoting transparency, he added. The chief minister said that the credit of containing corruption and increasing transparency went to the PTI government.
In his statement, the chief minister said that menace of corruption was a major obstacle to progress of our country. In the past, Pakistan was undeniably harmed by plundering national resources and corruption.
He said the corrupt elements filled their pockets and left our national exchequer empty. Furthermore, he said the PTI government wanted across the board accountability of corrupt elements and there was no room for these elements in new Pakistan. He said the government’s agenda was transparent Pakistan and transparency of the government’s policies was being applauded around the globe. Concrete steps taken by the government to eliminate corruption in such short span of time had no match in the history of the country. The elements involved in corruption are the real enemies of our country and nation as it is only because of them that Pakistan today has left behind in the race of progress. He said the PTI came to power with the agenda of eradication of corruption and would surely complete it, he concluded.

He also extended his best wishes to other elected members, including Senior Vice-President Rameeza Majid Nizami, Vice-President Mumtaz A Tahir, Joint Secretary SM Munir Jilani and Finance Secretary Shahab Zubari.
The chief minister said that newspapers highlight social issues effectively. The role of newspapers in reshaping the public opinion cannot be denied. He said the PTI government believed in freedom of expression.
He hoped that newly-elected APNS officials would keep their effective role in addressing the issues of media industry.
