New uniforms introduced for various units of police
After considering recommendations submitted by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Dr Kaleem Imam regarding police uniform, the Sindh government has approved the introduction of new uniforms for the police force.
The new uniforms have been designed with a view to improve the perception of policing amongst the citizens. A spokesman for the Sindh police said the IGP wanted to change the uniforms of various police units to enhance the policing process and bring it up to international standards. The IGP hopes that citizens will welcome and appreciate this, the spokesman said.
DIGP Operations Sindh Maqsood Ahmed explained that the new uniforms were designed in accordance with the latest international standards and local weather conditions.
The Sindh police will be the sole provider of the new police uniforms to ensure the quality of fabric, colour and stitching. The suppliers and vendors of the uniforms will not be allowed to display the new uniforms in their outlets.
The uniforms will initially be introduced in five units of the Sindh police, including the traffic police, the Criminal Investigation Agency, the anti-riots reserve platoons, the forensic division and the Central Police Office (CPO). Four uniforms for each personnel on a yearly basis will be recommended in the next financial year.
The new uniforms were displayed at the CPO. The new attire for the traffic police officers consists of white shirt, navy blue trousers and navy blue p-cap; whereas, the new uniform for the traffic police personnel includes half-sleeve white t-shirts, navy blue trousers and navy blue p-cap.
