NAB for putting Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on ECL
ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) recommended to Interior Ministry to place the name of former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on the Exit Control List (ECL) with regard to ongoing probe in LNG case.
According to sources in the NAB, the recommendation was sent to the Interior Ministry for the placing of name of former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi after the approval of the Director General NAB Rawalpindi Irfan Mangi.
Earlier, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi appeared before the Combined Investigation Team (CIT) of NAB Rawalpindi probing the LNG import and Terminal case. Though he recorded his statement before the CIT of the NAB Rawalpindi but did not submit the reply to the questioners handed over to him last month in this case.
Sources said Shahid Khaqan Abbasi sought time from the CIT for the provision of the record which was sought from him. The CIT of the NAB Rawalpindi reminded him that he was summoned four times but he was not providing the record.
Later Talking to newsmen after his appearance before the CIT Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that he sought the time from the NAB for submission of record and will write the letter to Secretary Petroleum Division for the provision of relevant record to him for the submission in the NAB. “The questioner was lengthy and it was possible to give answers to all the questions and in this regard he will write the letter to Secretary Petroleum for the provision of the relevant record so that answers be given in the light of the record available to the Petroleum Division,” he said.
The former prime minister said that he had provided all the details that were asked by the accountability bureau and announced to appear before the NAB daily if summoned.
