Handle with care
The country-wide tree plantation drive of the present government is quite an encouraging effort to combat climate change. However, the government is doing too little to ensure that planted saplings reach their maturity in a timely manner. For example, as a follow-up to this national initiative, the CDA has raised an impressive plantation in the green belt between Sectors F-10/2 and F-11/3 along the service road. But this small plantation adjacent to a park is under threat as stray cows and herds of buffalos are often seen damaging the tender plants, especially during early morning hours.
Will the CDA ensure the protection of this recently planted site from animals? Otherwise this impressive effort is going to be futile. All similar newly planted sites elsewhere in the country need adequate protection during the early stages of their development.
