MANSEHRA: Zahid Khan and Asghar Khan were elected as district president and general secretary of Awami National Party (ANP), Torghar district on Monday.
The election process was supervised by ANP MPA from Torghar Laiq Mohammad Khan and members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa election committee of the party, Khursheed Khattak and Irum Fatima.
A former ANP district president Shahzad Shah, who acted as election commissioner, announced the names of newly elected office-bearers after talks with local party leaders and activists as none had filed nomination papers against the newly elected office-bearers.
Shah said that Zahid Khan and Asghar Khan were elected president and general secretary, respectively.
He said Azizullah Khan was elected as senior vice-president, Latif Khan and Nazar Hameed as vice-president-I and II, Zakir Shah as additional general secretary, Qari Saleemullah as secretary information, Sher Malik as secretary finance and Fazal Raheem as secretary culture.
Zahid Khan said the district was a stronghold of the ANP and he would discharge his duties with honesty to serve the party interests.
Laiq Mohammad Khan said that his party was waging a struggle for the rights of Pakhtuns and time was not far when it would succeed in accomplishing the task.
