Man jumps off sixth floor to his death

A man on Thursday allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the sixth floor of a building in the Boat Basin area.

Police officials said the incident took place at a multi-storey building located near Bilawal Chowrangi within the limits of the Boat Basin police station. The man died on the spot. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to the family for burial.

The deceased was identified as 38-year-old Daram, son of Nirmal. According to Boat Basin SHO Malik Ashfaq, the man committed suicide apparently over domestic issues. Daram lived with his mother after separation from his wife, the SHO said, adding that before the incident, he left his house telling his mother that he was leaving for some work, and later committed suicide by jumping off the sixth floor of a building. Police officials said that they were investigating the case from different angles.

Teenage girl kills self

A teenage girl allegedly committed suicide at her house in the al-Asif Square area within the limits of the Sohrab Goth police station. The deceased was later identified as 16-year-old Razia. Her body was shifted to Abbassi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to the family for burial.

Police officials also reached the site of the incident after receiving the information. The officials said the girl apparently committed suicide by consuming some toxic substance. The police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the suicide.
