Police seize drugs, arrest 13 dealers as crackdown continues

PESHAWAR: As the crackdown on the drug dealers continued for the second day on Monday, the police arrested 13 alleged smugglers and sellers and recovered heroin and hashish from them.

An official of the Peshawar Police said 13 drug sellers and smugglers were held and four kilogram heroin and 23 kg hashish were recovered from them. DSP Suburb Ijaz Abazai told reporters that three kilograms heroin and two kg hashish were recovered from two Afghan smugglers, Gulzada and Noorullah during action at the Hazarkhwani Chowk.

Another official said four kg hashish were recovered from one Alam Khan in Mathra while one kg heroin was recovered from Ibrahim in the limits of Hashtnagri Police Station.

The police in Hayatabad, Bhanamari, Gulbahar, Daudzai, Khazana and Phandu and other areas also recovered hashish during different actions. The Peshawar Police have launched the campaign against drug dealers and arrested 39 alleged smugglers and sellers during the last two days. Besides, the police along with other government departments have shifted over 220 ice, heroin and hashish addicts from streets and roads to different hospitals of the city where they are being treated.

BARA: On the directive of deputy commissioner of Khyber district, the Khassadar and Levies force launched an operation against the drug dealers and sellers in Shahkas in Jamrud tehsil on Monday, official sources said. The Khassadars seized one and a half kg hashish, one kg heroin and 400 grams ice. Nine suspected persons, including Guli Shah, were arrested during the operation. Two motorcycles and one van were impounded as well.
