Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman Wednesday said more research facilities would be provided to young doctors of oncology, and research registrars would be appointed where they would be required.
Talking to various delegations of doctors and NGOs regarding World Cancer Awareness Day, Shuja said radiotherapy machines had been set up in the teaching hospitals whereas for the treatment of breast cancer and mammography machines have also been provided to Jinnah and Allied hospitals.
He said fund raising process for treatment of poor cancer patients was minutely observed.
He said rise in diseases is likely to double the burden of disease in developing countries. He said the government is implementing on a comprehensive plan to provide better healthcare facilities to the people of the province.
He said that focus is on the launching of high tech hospitals for the treatment fetal and complicated diseases and a modern institutes of Neuro Sciences is being established at a cost of Rs. 2.74 billion in two phases.
He said Institute of Neuro Sciences will provide opportunities for the promotion of neurosurgery in Punjab as well as training and updating the knowledge of doctors.
He said that Rs 650 million is being spent during current fiscal year to made
operational emergency ward of the INS.
He further told that 50 acres land at Burkey road and required funds were being provided for construction of state-of-the-art kidney and liver transplant institute.
