Edhi
Last Thursday (February 28) marked the 91st birth anniversary of a renowned philanthropist, humanitarian and social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi. On the occasion, he was paid a glowing tribute for his humanitarian services. Edhi’s contributions towards mitigating the suffering of the underprivileged are unparalleled. He founded the Edhi Foundation with an aim to provide the homeless with shelter, the poor with financial support, the hungry with food and the injured and sick with firstaid and ambulance facility.
Edhi believed that no religion is higher than humanity and serving humanity is the noblest of all acts. His life and legendary work are the source of inspiration for the nation. A chapter based on his life must be included in textbooks of Pakistan so that our younger generation can learn from his lifelong humanitarian work.
