According to media reports, the dye machine of Axact degrees, printing plates and stamp papers were found. The printing press, located in the Saddar area of the city, had been used for the last eight years to print fake degrees.
Reports added that the printing order was given on a letterhead of Axact and the payment was made by a cheque of the company. The FIA has also recorded the statement of the building’s owner in which he said he was unaware that fake degrees were being printed.
The Axact scandal came to light when the New York Times published an investigative report claiming that the Pakistani IT company had made millions of dollars selling fake degrees online.Following the NYT story, Pakistan authorities were quick to act as Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan ordered the FIA to launch a probe into the fake degree scandal.
