Islamabad: The Pak-Turk Maarif International Schools and Colleges held the Inter-Schools National Mathematics Olympiad.
According to Turkish Maarif Foundation’s country director Selahattin Batur, the Olympiad was a medium for the exchange of academic culture and strengthening the bond between management and administration, teachers, and students across different private and governments in the country.
He told the reporters here that the unique competition provided a great chance to students of fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades to show their incredible potential and get rewarded by the institution.
Batur said the first, second and third position holders would be awarded prizes from all regions including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Hyderabad, Khairpur, Multan and Peshawar. He said the competition was held in 39 exam centres across 22 cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Karachi, Multan, Khairpur, Jamshoro and Hyderabad with 13,762 participants in total from across Pakistan.
“The Al-Khwarizmi of Pakistan title will be awarded to the national level contest winner of eighth grade under the pursuit of the legacy inherited by one of the greatest mathematicians of the Muslim history,” he said.
The MRF country director said the mission of contributing knowledge-centric environment enriched with moral values would become a flagship reference to success stories of the foundation in Pakistan.
