Following the attack on Indian forces in Pulwama, India, without any evidence, blamed Pakistan for the attack. While responding to India, Pakistan showed calmness and maturity. First, Prime Minister Imran Khan assured India of strict action against the miscreants if India provided sufficient and appropriate evidence that confirmed that Pakistan was responsible for the attack. He made it clear that Pakistan was not in favour of war, however, if India persisted, it would retaliate. A couple days back, the DG ISPR also gave the same message of peace to India, but warned the country of a serious response if it proceeded with war.
At a time when Pakistan is sending a message of peace and offering friendly hands to its eastern neighbour to resolve all issues amicably, India too should respond positively. This is not only for the two countries, but also for the entire South Asian region. As PM Imran Khan said, “Starting war is in one’s hand, but stopping it is not”. For the interests of their people and peace in the region, both counties must sit on a table and engage in meaningful talks to resolve their matters.
