Govt employees’ grants being raised
LAHORE : Punjab Cabinet Committee on Legislative on Business has nodded to amend the rules for enhancement in multiple grants being paid to the Punjab government employees under the Benevolent Fund.
It was decided in the committee’s seventh meeting chaired by Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja on Thursday. The meeting was also attended among others by Chief Secretary Yousuf Naseem Khokhar and heads of the departments concerned.
It is learnt through the documents of a summary addressed to the chief minister that earlier the employees of grade 1 to 15 were receiving Rs 12,000 funeral grant, Rs 15,000 to Rs 20000 marriage grant, Rs1,500 to Rs6,000 educational scholarships and Rs1,950 to 2,550 monthly grant which, after enhancement, will become Rs 50,000, Rs100,000, Rs 5,000 to 1,0000 and Rs 5,000 to 7,500, respectively.
Similarly, the employees from grade 16 and above were getting Rs20,000 funeral grant, Rs40,000 to Rs50,000 marriage grant, Rs5,000 to Rs16,000 educational scholarships and Rs5,250 to Rs9,000 monthly grant that, after the amendment, will become Rs 50,000, Rs150,000, Rs 20,000 to Rs50,000 and Rs 10,000 to 15,000, respectively.
The minister said, “Utmost welfare of government employees is one of top priorities of the Punjab government and this enhancement will help minimise financial troubles being faced by them.”
