Pulwama attack: NA rejects Indian propaganda against Pakistan

The House took up the unanimous resolution during the delayed started proceedings of the House by over two hours. The House was adjourned soon after adoption of the resolution which was drafted before the start of proceedings.

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly (NA) on Wednesday passed a unanimous resolution rejecting the baseless Indian allegations seeking to link the Palwama suicide attack to Pakistan without investigations and any shred of evidence and also denounced the reprisal attacks on Kashmiris in Indian-Held Jammu and Kashmir.

“The House strongly rejects baseless Indian allegations seeking to link the attack to Pakistan without investigation and any shred of evidence,” the resolution read by Speaker Asad Qaisar said.

The House took up the unanimous resolution during the delayed started proceedings of the House by over two hours. The House was adjourned soon after adoption of the resolution which was drafted before the start of proceedings.

Earlier, the opposition parties boycotted meeting of the House Business and Advisory Committee but deferred protest in the House the against arrest of the Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani.

The National Assembly condemned Indian knee-jerk reaction where instead of introspection on its repressive policies against the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir denying their right to self-determination, India has against sought to shift the blame on Pakistan through baseless polemic and provocative rhetoric.

The House also recalled the statements by heads of all political parties and the Prime Minister’s statement of February 19, offering Pakistan’s assistance to India in investigations of this attack and to take action on actionable intelligence or evidence.

The House through the resolution stressed that India’s smear campaign should not delude and obscure the real issues of the human rights nightmare and humanitarian and emergency prevalent in Indian Occupied Kashmir due to the Indian atrocities. The parliamentarians also emphasised that no one should undermine Pakistan’s resolve to defend itself against any act of aggression.

It also reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute pending on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council due to Indian intransigence. The House underscored that a just and peaceful solution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is an unfinished agenda of the partition of India and essential for durable peace and stability in the region.

The National Assembly also called upon India to put an immediate halt to the continued human rights violations in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and implement the UN Security Council’s resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir, recalling for any impartial plebiscite to determine the future of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Prior to start of proceedings, leaders of the opposition parties held a meeting in the opposition leader’s chamber and decided to register strong protest against arrest of Agha Siraj Durrani and then met the Speaker to apprise him of their decision.

During the meeting between Speaker and opposition parties’ leaders, it was decided that there would be no business following passage of the unanimous resolution. Those present in the meeting were Syed Khursheed Shah, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Shazia Marri, Maryam Aurengzeb and Khawaja Asif. The Opposition Leader Shahbaz Sharif could not reach Islamabad due to indisposition. As per decision, the opposition parties deferred their protest till the next sitting on Thursday morning.
