LAHORE: Partly cloudy weather was reported in the provincial metropolis here on Tuesday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.
Officials said a strong westerly wave was likely to affect western parts of the country today (evening/night) and grip most parts of the country and may persist in upper parts till Thursday. They predicted widespread rain/ thunderstorm (with scattered heavy falls) with snowfall over hills was expected in Balochistan (Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Makran, Sibbi, Nasirabad divisions), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, while at scattered places in Sindh including Karachi.
Heavy falls may trigger landslides in Malakand, Hazara divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir and may cause flash flooding in Balochistan and hill torrents of DG Khan division. Rainfall was recorded in several cities including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Kasur, Murree, Sialkot, Narowal, Kamra, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Toba Tek Singh, Okara, Multan, Malmjabba, Bannu, Kalam, Balakot, Kakul, Garidupatta, Muzaffarabad and Kotli.
Tuesday’s lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Kalam where mercury dropped down to -14°C while in Lahore it was 10°C and maximum was 21°C.
