The K-Electric along with the law enforcement agencies raided a shopping mall in North Nazimabad and removed illegal hook connections being used to steal electricity.
The KE had served a notice to the management of the mall to clear dues of over Rs5.6 million. A KE spokesperson said the raid was part of a massive crackdown against defaulters and theft of electricity in different parts of the city. “The KE will continue to intensify such drives against defaulters and power thieves, and violators will be subject to disconnection along with prosecution that can lead to penalty as high as Rs6 million and imprisonment of up to seven years in line with the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act of 2016.”
