Sarah, Sara on course for Ladies National Tennis final
ISLAMABAD: Sarah Mehboob and Sara Mansoor were well on course to play the final of Subh-e-Nau, NBP Ladies National Tennis that entered semis stage Friday at the PTF Complex courts.
Sara Mansoor blanked Nida Akram without losing a single game while Sarah Mahboob also won her match against Mariam Mirza with the same difference. Young Zoha Asim continued her fine form beating eighth seed Meheq Khokhar 5-7, 6-0, 6-4 to make it to the semi-finals. Zoha Asim played exceptionally well to down her experienced opponent Meheq Khokhar. After losing hard fought first set, Zoha bounced back to win the remaining two sets and match and. She will face another experienced player Sarah Mahboob in semifinal match.
Sara Mansoor who blanked Nida Akram will play Shimza Naz in the second semis. Fifth seed Shimza Naz defeated 3rd seed Esha Jawad following entering contest. Ladies singles semifinals will be played on Saturday morning followed by final in the evening.
In ladies doubles quarterfinals, pair of Mahvish Chishtie and Esha Jawad emerged victorious against Shimza Naz and Khunsha Babar. Mariam Mirza and Nida Akram won their match against Oreen Jasia and Mahnoor Sohail. Zoha Asim and Shimza Naz qualified for the final of Girls U-18 after winning their respective semifinal matches. Final will be played on Saturday morning. Amna Ali and Haniya Minhas will play against each other for the under-14 girls title. Young Haniya Minhas won Girls U-10 title after beating Esha Zia on Friday. Finals of all categories will be played on Saturday.
