HARIPUR: A newly-married woman died of suffocation and her husband was hospitalised apparently due to gas leakage in Baldhair village, family sources said on Thursday.
Sources said Shabnam Bibi, 20, and Abdul Khaliq, 25, had tied the knot four days ago. On Wednesday night, they said the couple went to sleep without switching off the gas heater. “And apparently gas leakage caused suffocation in the room. When the couple did not come for breakfast on Thursday morning, the family members broke open the door of the room and found them unconscious,” the sources said.
They were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Havelian, where the doctors treated them for two hours before declaring the woman dead.
The body of the woman was shifted to her home where the family members noticed some movement in her body, the sources said, adding, the family again shift her to the hospital in Havelian where the doctors referred her to Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad. However, the sources said she died on the way to Abbottabad. The deceased’s husband is still in the hospital where doctors said they were trying to save his life.
