District courts disposed of 87,748 cases in one year
Rawalpindi: The judges of District Courts Rawalpindi have disposed of 87,748 contested and uncontested cases from January 30, 2018 to January 30, 2019, while 54,267 cases yet pending in criminal, civil and family courts. People have also filed 81,749 fresh cases during this period.
‘The News’ has collected data from Clerks of Courts Branch of Senior Civil Judge, Rawalpindi that judges have disposed of 87,748 cases in one year while 54,267 cases of criminal, civil and family nature are yet pending.
Clerks of Courts Branch in-charge Raja Gultazap told ‘The News’ that they were updating, all courts send them their reports and they computerise them on daily basis..
He said that we have also list of contestant and uncontested cases. ‘Contested’ means where both parties are present in the court, while uncontested means ex-parte decisions where both the parties or one of them is not interested in the case.
Rawalpindi Bar Association President Syed Sohail Tanvir said that cooperation of bench and bar is necessary to early decisions of cases. Unnecessary strikes also creating problems in early decisions.
