LAHORE
AROUND 350 students and faculty members of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) visited the Corps Headquarters here Tuesday and met Corps Commander Lieutenant General Naweed Zaman.
Talking to students, the Corps Commander said youth was the hope and future of this country. He said the sacrifices being rendered by Pakistan Army in the ongoing war against terror was meant to secure a peaceful environment to ensure a brighter future for them.
He emphasised the need for their whole-hearted commitment towards attaining academic excellence saying pursuance of education was the best way the students could defeat the forces of retrogression.
Earlier, the students witnessed a demonstration by Quick Reaction Force to combat terrorists and commended the agility and fighting capability of the elements of Light Commando Battalion. They were also imparted technical knowhow in weapon handling and small arms firing skills. The students also visited the border area and commended the professionalism, dedication and resolve of army officers and Jawans in defending the motherland.
The day-long programme culminated with flag lowering ceremony at Pakistan-India joint checkpoint at Wagah. The students were thrilled by smart turnout and bearing combined with immaculate drills by troops of Pakistan Rangers. On the conclusion of visit, the students thanked the Army high command for arranging the visit for them.
The day-long programme “A Day Out with Army” has been specifically initiated on instructions of Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif to enhance the morale, motivation and confidence of youths.
