LAHORE
Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaqat Baloch has said that the so-called Egyptian court’s verdict regarding Mohammad Morsi was a clear violation of international law, the UN charter and democracy.
Addressing a huge rally condemning the death sentence handed down to former Egyptian President Dr Mohammad Morsi and his colleagues, in the provincial capital on Sunday, Baloch said the people of Pakistan stood by Dr Morsi and his colleagues in this hour of trial and they were ready for a million march at the call of JI Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq on the issue.
Thousands of people, including large number of women, joined the rally in scorching heat to express complete solidarity with the Akhwanul Muslimoon being targeted by the Egyptian military ruler and his foreign masters. He said if the Islamic movement of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey and Iran joined hands, the issues of Palestine and Kashmir could be solved without much delay.
Liaqat Baloch called upon the government and the Muslim rulers to break their silence against tyranny and rise against the dictatorial decision of Egyptian military ruler; otherwise, the colonial powers would go ahead with their designs to disintegrate the Muslim states one after the other. He said during one year period, Dr Morsi had formed an Islamic and democratic Constitution for his country but Israel was not ready to accept a state in Egypt that could support Palestine.
He said the US and Europe only verbally objected to Gen Sisi military coup but never supported Egyptian people’s democratic rights. He said the military dictator had massacred thousands of innocent men and women of the country but the world conscience and even the Muslim states kept quite. However, he said that imprisonments and executions could never crush the Islamic movements. Addressing the rally, JI deputy chief, Hafiz Muhammad Idrees said the government should have raised its voice in support of Dr Morsi.
