Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President PPP Central Punjab, went to the residence of Jehangir Badar, Political Coordinator to Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, on Saturday to enquire about his health as he had not been feeling well for the last many days. He remained with him for about an hour.
Matters relating to political situation of the country in general and of the Punjab in particular came under discussion. Both leaders expressed their acute concern over the deteriorating law and order in the province, agonising loadshedding and anti-farmers policies being pursued by this government.
They maintained that the government had failed to bring improvement in the state of affairs and the signs of relief to them in the foreseeable future remained a far-fetched cry. They said they were not surprised over the news reports regarding the agitation of farmers in front of the Provincial Assembly on May 31 to press for their demands.
Wattoo described the tax on agriculture produces by this government as extortion as farmers were already paying tax on land holding.
Double taxation on farmers must be withdrawn forthwith, he demanded.
Wattoo during the discussion mentioned the appearing of Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in the Accountability Court, Rawalpindi, recently along with the top leadership of the party at 8:00am sharp.
It clearly manifested how much the party and its leadership hold the judiciary and the law of the land in such a high esteem, he added.
