Axacting questions

This refers to the editorial, ‘Axacting questions’ (May 20). One can very well imagine the adverse impact of the fake degree scam on the credibility of our universities. It will add to the ordeal of students and those seeking employment abroad. They have already been facing inordinate delays and refusals in their visa applications.
The scam is not a solitary incidence. The media has exposed serious scams relating to spurious cooking oil, forged currency, quacks, sale of dead animals’ meat, etc. Are we waiting for some foreign media report to wake us into action? When will we devise a mechanism to monitor and root out all illegal and anti-social entities proactively?
