The Montessori and Junior Section students of the Roots School System, DHA-1, mesmerised and captivated their mothers with breathtaking and scintillating performances, amidst dazzling lights and showering confetti at the ‘Annual Spring Sports Extravaganza 2015’.
Nazir Sabir, Pakistan’s pride and celebrity who scaled Mount Everest, was invited as chief guest along with Dr. Zhang Daojian, vice president of the Confucius Institute at NUML, Islamabad. The chief guest paid glowing tributes to the students for organising such a magnificent event as the students stormed the performing arena like butterflies adorned with all the colours of spring.
He commented, “I have never ever witnessed such a meticulously organised, creative display and performance of children of such tender age.”
He congratulated Riffat Mushtaq, Founder Chairperson and Khadija Mushtaq for their inspiring leadership in educating the future generations of Pakistan in such a holistic manner.
Dr. Zhang also remarked, “It seems like I have been transported into the magical world of children surrounded with love, joy, innocence, wonderment and vitality.’ He paid a rich tribute to Riffat Mushtaq and Alina Shakeel (Branch Head) and her team for putting up such a grand event.
The most inspiring and astounding factor of the Sports day was that the entire student body, encompassing nearly a thousand students, from Montessori till grade six, enchanted the cheering and thunder struck audience with their most aesthetically choreographed colourful displays. The little angels of Montessori, as young as two and a half years, were decked out in their beautiful hats adorned with beautiful flowers, leaves, petals, butterflies, and ladybirds took the audience into the colourful world filled with eternal hope. The students of grade one, two and three followed the theme of fairytales, the students came dressed as princes and princesses, ran fairy tale themed races and brought the enchanted world of Cinderella, Belle and Repanzel to life right in the sports arena.
A life sized chariot decorated in minute details with glitter and crystals brought our very charming and graceful Cinderella to the arena, where a six foot high glass slipper awaited her arrival. Following the displays, were the exceptionally coordinated P.T, karate and calisthenics (glow) displays. Throughout the evening the melodious school choir kept the audiences enthralled.
All the teachers were deeply engaged with their students to ensure that each child sparkled and bedazzled while performing; and indeed they were able to showcase their chosen themes to perfection. The sports teachers, arts teachers, class-teachers and all subject teachers rose to the challenge splendidly. Keeping with the tradition of Roots, each and every child displayed team spirit, unity and harmony while celebrating the evening dedicated to peace.
