Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran on Wednesday said the teachings and thoughts of Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali and Maulana Shibli Naumani, the two big names of Urdu literature, must be promoted among the young generation.
He was addressing a seminar organised by PU Department of Urdu at Sherani Hall, said a press release.
Dr Kamran said people learnt a lot from the activities of Oriental College and the presence of Intzaar Hussain at the seminar was an honour.
In his address, Intzaar said Hali and Shibli laid the foundation of critique in Urdu, which was a great service to the development of Urdu literature. Presenting his research paper, Prof Dr Khawaja Muhammad Zakria said there was no match to Hali who could write both in prose and poetry.
