Two women commit suicide

LAHORE
A 22-year-old woman committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in the Shadbagh area Wednesday.
Hina, a resident of Sher Shah Road, was married with one Ali two years back and the couple was issueless. Owing to some unknown domestic issues, Hina left the house of her husband almost eight months back and started residing with her parents in Shadbagh. On the day of incident, she locked herself up in a room and took poisonous pills. As a result, her condition went critical. She was rushed to a local hospital where she expired. In a statement before death, she said that she had deliberately swallowed the poisonous pills.
In another incident, a girl ended her life by taking poisonous pills in the Johar Town area. The deceased was identified as Sadia Bibi of Shah Di Khui. Police said that Sadia, whose nikah had been taken place with one Sajid two months back, swallowed poisonous pills over an unknown issue. She was taken to a local hospital where she expired. Police handed over the bodies to the families.
SHOT DEAD: A woman was shot dead by her brother-in-law in the Hunjarwal area Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Asma Bibi, wife of Zahid Khan of Gulshan Town Hunjarwal. Police said that the accused identified as Sajid, brother of the victim’s husband, had an exchange of hot words with Asma over a domestic issue and later shot her to death.
In another incident, a property dealer was shot dead by two motorcyclists in the Johar Town area Wednesday.
The victim identified as Mian Mahmood, along with his brother Abdul Raoof and a guest Zafar Iqbal, was on his way in a car when two armed bike riders intercepted them near Allah Hu Chowk and opened indiscriminate firing at Mahmood. As a result, he received fatal bullet wounds. The bike riders fled the scene. The injured Mahmood was rushed to a local hospital where he died. Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man was shot dead by some unidentified persons in the Hunjarwal area Wednesday.
The deceased identified as Gulfam hailed from Peshawar and lived here in the Mansoora area. On the day of incident, he was on his way when some unidentified persons approached him and shot him to death. Police suspected that Gulfam had been murdered over an old enmity. Police shifted the bodies to mortuary.
ACCIDENTS: At least 588 road traffic accidents were reported in Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which seven lives were lost and 488 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant district.
hanged: A murderer of two persons was hanged at Kot Lakhpat Central Jail Wednesday.
The accused Zulfiqar Ali had murdered Maratab and Shafique in Bara Kahu Islamabad in 1998. His plea for clemency was rejected and later his death warrants were issued. Family members of Zulfiqar held last meeting with him a day back. The authorities handed over Zulfiqar’s body to his family.
