LAHORE
A woman was allegedly poisoned to death by her husband and his three accomplices in the Kot Lakhpat area Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Reeda, wife of Adnan alias Dani, a resident of Kot Lakhpat. Police said the accused Adnan alias Dani, with the abetment of his three accomplices Shahbaz, Nikko and Muzammil, had murdered his wife.
When asked, police said Reeda might have been killed over a domestic issue. Police registered a case against the murderers on the complaint of the victim’s sister and shifted the body to morgue.
MINOR DIES: A four-month-old boy died after falling from her grandmother’s lap in Haier police station Tuesday.
It was reported that the boy identified as Sher Ali, son of Dildar, a resident of Jhuggian Chachuwalian, had fallen from the lap of her grandmother when she tried to stop a fight between her relatives namely Ashraf alias Achha and Kashif alias Kashi.
The minor sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital where he expired. The boy’s father Dildar accused his relatives of throwing the child on the ground, resulting into his death. Police shifted the body to morgue.
FOUND DEAD: A 60-year-old man was found dead in the limits of Tibbi City police station Tuesday.
Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict, who might have died of excessive use of drugs. Police shifted the body to mortuary.
FIRE: Goods worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes when fire broke out in a chipboard godown in the Sundar area Tuesday.
Cause of fire was said to be a short circuit. Firefighters extinguished the fire.
ACCIDENTS: At least 602 road traffic accidents were reported in Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which 10 lives were lost and 493 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant district. However, some 213 minor injured were provided first aid by Rescue 1122 on the spot.
Water coolers: CTO Lahore has said that around 200 water coolers and 148 umbrellas have been provided to 34 traffic sectors.
He directed the traffic wardens to arrange bottles to get cold drinks. He directed the SP Headquarters and RI Lines to regularly provide cold drinks to the traffic wardens at their duty points and no negligence would be tolerated in this regard.
