LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that setting up of Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab is a commendable step of the government and it is playing an important role in the solution of the problems of Pakistanis living abroad.
He directed that road shows be arranged in foreign countries for promoting awareness, so that overseas Pakistanis could fully benefit from this institution. He said modern technology should be used for redressing the grievances of overseas Pakistanis.
He was presiding a meeting to review performance of Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab, here, Monday. Various proposals for improving efficiency of the commission were also considered in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab was an effective institution which had been set up for the service and solution of problems of Pakistanis living abroad. He said he was personally monitoring the performance of the commission. He said that committees had also been set up under the Overseas Pakistanis Commission in all districts of the province. He said that complainants living in any part of the country could contact the commission if they had any problem relating to Punjab and immediate measures would be taken for redressing their grievances.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab should also take benefit from a video link technology for performance of its responsibilities. Commissioner Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab Afzaal Bhatti in his briefing informed that the commission had provided relief to a number of Overseas Pakistanis through resolving their problems. He said arrangements had also been made for the conduct of road shows in foreign countries.
