PM and Karachi

This refers to the news report, ‘Karachi operation has reduced target killings, extortion: Nawaz’ (April 2). It was astonishing to hear Nawaz Sharif claiming that the ‘incidents of street crimes, target killings, etc have decreased in Karachi, people are satisfied and the lights of Karachi are being restored’.
On the very day he said this three people were shot dead in the provincial metropolis, among them a senior police officer. It seems the prime minister either does not read newspapers or his advisers tell him only what he wants to hear.
