KARACHI: Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) gave affiliation to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) in its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Thursday at its headquarters in Islamabad.
“SNGPL successfully held one championship recently carrying prize purse of Rs500,000 and they have also provided jobs to seven squash players,” PSF secretary Amir Nawaz said.
He said the house elected Sohail Aman as the president of the federation.
The president assured full support of the Pakistan Air Force for the game of squash, added the secretary.
He further said that the president ordered to effectively use and modernise squash academies in all four provinces to produce new talent.
The house ratified amendment to the constitution of the federation to incorporate the national sports policy clauses regarding limitation on tenures of officials of sports federations.
“There were no deliberations on the post of the national coach,” added Amir.
“The London-based coaching programme for the two top players of the country is still intact and Nasir (Iqbal) has left for Kuwait from where he will fly to London to join the club of Mohammad Yasin,” added Amir.
President Balochistan Squash Association (BSA) Sher Khan Kakar said that the house decided to give the portable court which the federation bought last year to Balochistan.
A high-prized event would be organised in Quetta soon on this court, he said. “PSF will bear all the cost of installation and transportation of the court, which is worth around Rs1 million,” said Kakar.
He said that Tahir Khanzada requested installation of this portable court in any shopping mall in Karachi.
Kakar said that the president PSF asked the officials of the federation to include two junior players in the London coaching programme with Nasir Iqbal and Farhan Zaman.
