JUSTICE Anwaarul Haq of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday disposed of a petition of Jamaatud Dawa leader, Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi seeking implementation on the order of Islamabad High Court regarding his detention.
Lakhvi is facing charges of masterminding 2008 Mumbai attacks and was detained by the government.
At the outset of proceedings, the court was informed that petition had born fruitful as the petitioner had been released on court’s directions.
Lakhvi through his counsel submitted that the detention order issued by Okara DCO was contempt of the verdict issued by Islamabad High Court. He submitted that Home Department was not complying with the order of IHC according to which the authorities concerned were directed to release him. He said but the DCO Okara issued fresh notice of petitioner’s detention on March 14.
