After the announcement of investment of US $45 billion by China in Pakistan, international departments have declared Pakistan safe for foreign investment, said Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal.
He was addressing the inauguration ceremony of a two-day ‘Brand Pakistan Conference’, organised by the Brand Pakistan in collaboration with the Jang Media Group here on Tuesday. Representatives of political parties, banks, educational institutions, private companies and business community are attending the conference.
Ahsan Iqbal said that political stability, strong economic policy and peace are necessary for the development of any country. The investment of China in Pakistan means that the image of Pakistan is improving among the international community, he said.
Ahsan Iqbal said he is feeling honoured to inaugurate the ‘Brand Pakistan Conference.’ He said Pakistan is full of natural resources and talent. He said unfortunately the image of Pakistan among international community is negative after the 9/11 incident. Now there is a need to change this image and make it positive through the media.
Hashoo Group Chairman Sadruddin Hashwani, while addressing the conference, criticised the political system and said a big part of the budget is spent on expenses of parliament and parliamentarians whereas a large number of children cannot get basic education because their parents are unable to afford to send them to school.
“If we want to end corruption from our country, there is a need to bring leaders in the parliament instead of thieves,” he said.
Sadruddin Hashwani said that the young people of this country should prepare themselves to come forward, take part in general elections and lead this country.
While criticising the Pakistani media, Sadruddin Hashwani said that it is portraying the negative image of Pakistan in the race of ‘breaking news’. “The media should make rules and do self accountability, highlight social issues and promote the soft image of Pakistan, especially in international community,” he added.
He said there is a need to improve judicial system and make it faster to give justice to the common man and end corruption in government departments. He said one of its examples is that bureaucracy is creating hurdles in the construction of his hotel in Mirpur.
Appreciating the ‘Brand Pakistan Conference,’ Sadruddin Hashwani said that it is a good effort to promote the soft image of Pakistan.
Earlier, addressing the conference, Brand Pakistan Director Sayyed Ahmed Masud said “We should work together to create the positive image of Pakistan.” He thanked the Jang Media Group for being media partner of the ‘Brand Pakistan Conference’.
