Cricket woes

Our second loss to the world’s ninth ranked One-Day team in a yet again one-sided match reflects a deeper malaise in national cricket than our glib-tongued experts would have us believe. A dispassionate analysis of the cricketing scene yields some horrific facts. After a lacklustre performance in the World Cup our cricket team has hit rock bottom in Bangladesh, allowing the minnows to post a record 329 runs in the first match of the series.
It is not the match result that matters. What is of concern is the sheer, spinelessness capitulation, displaying a ‘cross-batted’ faulty technique that does not allow our batsmen to stay for long duration on the wicket. This state betokens a substandard domestic cricket structure that throws up such below par performers who are incapable of competing even with the lowest ranked cricket teams in the world. Something is real rotten in the state of our cricketing Denmark.
