PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have rounded up 463 suspects and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in the ongoing search and strike operation being conducted throughout the province under the National Action Plan.
A statement said the police recovered 40 arms and 692 rounds in different parts of the province. It added that 412 houses and 207 hotels were searched and three cases registered against the violators.
It said up to 265 suspects were held and 13 arms of different kinds and 113 cartridges were seized during snap checking at 175 checkpoints. A total of 46 Afghan refugees living illegally in KP were also detained, the statement said.
The statement noted that a man was arrested for misusing loudspeaker and case was registered against him. It added that security inspection of 549 educational institutions was also carried out and various institutions were advised to beef up security.
Two POs arrested in Nowshera: Two proclaimed offenders (POs) were arrested after an exchange of fire in Amiro Kali in the limits of Nizampur Police Station, sources said on Monday.An official of Nizampur Police Station said that Jalal Shah and Furqan Shah, sons of Didar Shah hailing from Amiro Kali in Nizampur, were wanted by the police in connection with a double murder case.
A local court had declared them proclaimed offenders. The official said that a police party led by SHO Baroz Khan besieged the house of the proclaimed offenders in Amiro Kali as the accused were hiding there. He said the accused opened fire on the cops when they were asked to surrender. “The POs surrendered to the police after an exchange of fire that continued for hours,” the official said, adding that two Kalashnikovs, a rifle and ammunition were recovered from the accused.
