INVESTIGATIONS Wing of Lahore Police has been groping in the dark to trace out robbers, thieves and murderers involved in killing of three innocent citizens and injuring seven others on resistance besides looting over 328 Lahorites during the first two weeks of the current month.
Tall claims of divisional SPs of Investigations Wing about giving justice to common citizens have also been exposed as most of the cases related to crime against person and property were still unsolved.
The response of operations police against emergency calls could also not be improved despite the claims of Lahore Police commanders to revamp Rescue 15 at the cost of Rs2.8 million. The Punjab government had allocated the amount but the new system could not be made operational so far. Its launch was expected in the first week of March. The citizens keep on calling at Rescue 15 in emergencies but police respond very late traditionally.
The trend of crime against property remained violent during the first half of the month as robbers took liberty to kill three persons-two in Cantt police division and one in Model Town Division-and left seven others injured on offering resistance in separate incidents. Out of the total reported incidents, 105 bikes and 20 cars were either snatched or lifted from the six police divisions of Lahore police.
