Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan will appear before the internal election tribunal of the party on April 19 in Karachi, The News learnt on Wednesday.
Sources said Justice (retd) Wajihuddin Ahmed, the head of PTI election tribunal, has summoned Khan to appear before it to answer questions about the implementation of the orders of the party’s re-elections across the country.
Khan will appear before the tribunal on April 19 in Karachi. Dawa Khan Sabir, a PTI leader in Karachi, told The News that it was the first time in the country’s political history that the central head of a party would appear before its committee to respond to questions.
“It would be a historic event and set a new trend in Pakistan’s politics,” Sabir added.
It is unclear as to where the tribunal’s meeting will be held. However, sources said Khan will appear before the tribunal at the residence of Yousaf Malik Gabol, a member of tribunal.
Khan has already dissolved all party bodies in the city on the tribunal’s orders. The tribunal had recommended holding fresh intra-party polls because of serious irregularities in the previous ones.
