PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Friday refused bail to six terror suspects belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) charged with attacks on security forces.
A single bench of Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth dismissed the writ petition of the six terror suspects. Five of the accused were identified as Muhammad Nawaz, Muhammad Jaseem, Ishaq, Nosherawan and Umar Faraz. They hail from Hangu.
During hearing of the case, the petitioners’ lawyer submitted that they were charged for being members of the TTP Hangu chapter. A huge cache of arms was recovered from their possession during raids.
The arms included three rocket-launchers, 23 hand-grenades, mortar shells, 15 detonators, 7 remote controls, 12 kg explosives and 120 prima cards. He said the prosecution also failed to provide ample evidence against the accused to prove that they attacked security forces.
Additional Advocate General Mian Arshad Jan submitted before the bench that police arrested the accused with arms and other materials used in bomb blasts and attacks. He said that as per the police investigation report, they were planning an attack on security forces. He said the police had proof against the accused to establish their links with the TTP.
