Fancy Boy, Heads Will Turn take centre stage in today’s races

LAHORE; Fancy Boy and Heads Will Turn are the two ponies to watch out for in the fifth and sixth Lorina Plate races scheduled to be held at the Lahore Race Club on Sunday (today).

A total of six races will be held on the day but the last two of them are considered as the main competitions because they are of a miles runs while the first four are of 900 metres distance. Although divisions are different in all of these six races but they are of class seven with the largest field being in the fourth race that is 17 contestants.

All the six races for the day have a super jackpot of Rs 35050 and in case there is rain and the races could not be held on Sunday, it will then be held on Tuesday or either on Wednesday with the same handicap.

In the opening race of the day which is of division V, no favourites are given and the handicap sheet declaration is, ‘watch the colour’. However, this 900 metres race of a dozen participants have some prominent names like Zil Prince, Janab, Da Vinci, Head Line and Ramak Queen who were known for their past performances.

The second race also of Division-V with 13 participants is believed to have the three years aged equine Successful as the expected winner. Although the second place may go to Aas Paas, a four years old pony, three year aged equine Baa Wafa is believed to surprise the favourites.

The third Lorina Plate in Division-IV & V have 11 competitors but a four year aged equine Safdar Princess is favourite for the top slot and in its footsteps may come a thoroughbred horsy Queen Esmeralda. Another thoroughbred horse Maradona is most likely play a spoiler’s role.

the fourth race in Division-III and IV has the largest field of 17 horses and here competition is also tough but a four year old pony Ok Dear is believed to be the best with other good performances are expected from a five year old horsy Neeli The Great and three year old equine Aie Sawair. The fifth race and one of the main races is for Division-II and III horse and after selection 14 have been listed for a miles run but all eyes are set on Fancy Boy for a win. Its closest rival may be Power of Dream while a surprise package is carried by Punjabi Style.

The second main race and the final of the day is for Division-I horses. In all 13 are picked for the race with a three year old equine Heads Will Turn is expected winner while the same aged Baab-e-The Rani may come second. But a four years old pony Sultan-e-Moazzam may stage an upset.
