Rain likely

LAHORE: Hot and humid weather was observed in the city here Monday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions with chances of scattered rain during the next 24 hours.

Met officials said weak moist currents from Arabian Sea are continuously penetrating over upper and central parts of the country. They said a westerly wave is still affecting upper parts of the country and may persist during next 24 hours. They predicted that mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, more rain-thundershower with gusty winds is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala Divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Rainfall was recorded at several cities, including Dir (upper 19mm, Lower 18mm), Malam Jabba 18mm, Peshawar (City 18mm, AP 09mm), Cherat, Saidu Sharif 06mm, DI Khan 05mm, Parachinar 04mm, Bahawalnagar 17mm, Sahiwal 14mm, Bahawalpur (City 10mm, AP 06mm), Khanpur, Okara 06mm, Noorpur Thal 05mm, Toba Tek Singh, Murree 04mm, Multan 02mm, Sargodha (AP), 02mm, Jhang, Faisalabad 01mm, Garhi Dupatta 06mm and Muzaffarabad 03mm.

Monday’s maximum temperature was recorded at Sibbi where mercury reached 48°C while in Lahore, it was 32°C, minimum was 24°C and humidity level was 55 percent.
