NAB recovers 10,000 acre govt land from land mafia

ISLAMABAD: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice ® Javed Iqbal had lauded the performance of NAB Karachi for its recovering of over 10,000 acre government land from land mafia and subsequently handing over to Sindh government. The NAB chairman presided over a high level meeting at NAB headquarters. The meeting reviewed the performance of NAB Karachi and regional bureaus. The land is situated at Police Station Bola Khan of District Jamshoro Sindh.

According to details from the recovered land 731 acre is situated at Deh Band of Tehsil Bola Khan while other land is situated in other Deh. NAB Karachi had apprehended three employees of Revenue Department on April 17, 2018 on involvement in fake entry in revenue record by showing it private land. They were involved in selling government in collaboration with land mafia.

The NAB Karachi conducted inquiry on the basis of available evidence. It was transpired that 10 thousand acre government land worth Rs75 billion was allotted to housing societies through fake method and after tempering the record. Sindh government has banned the sale and purchase of the aforementioned land. NAB Karachi has started investigations of declaring 10,000 acre state’s land as private land and inflicting losses on state property.

The NAB chairman was busy in eliminating every kind of corruption with iron hands. NAB was pursuing the policy of accountability for all. "Last seven months are ample proof of NAB’s performance that it was pursuing the policy of accountability sans any discrimination. This policy is imperative for progress and prosperity of the country. NAB's seven month performance is bearing fruits," he said.

He said the whole nation has lauded the corruption elimination endeavours of NAB. He said NAB had deposited Rs2,000 million in national exchequer after recovering from corrupt since taking charge of NAB by the chairman on Oct 11, 2017. "The process of recovering the looted money from the corrupt is continuing," he said. He said NAB has apprehended 240 persons and filed corruption references against 230 in various accountability courts in last seven months which is record success of NAB.

The NAB chairman has lauded the performance of NAB Karachi under the supervision of DG NAB. He expressed the hope that NAB continues pursuing the policy of accountability for all by eliminating the menace with iron hands.
