Although it has been nine months since the Myanmar military crackdown, the old wounds of the August genocide have yet to heal. According to UNICEF reports, 60 babies are born every day in Rohingya refugee camps. Around 25,000 babies are expected to born in the near future. These figures demonstrate the brutalities that were faced by Rohingya women at the hands of the Myanmar military.
The recent report has raised a series of doubts as well. It is feared that babies could be abandoned. New mothers would die owing to the lack of care. It is time the UN and other strong Muslim-majority countries took immediate and concrete steps to minimise human losses. And there should be a strong action against the tyranny of the Myanmar forces.
