The Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) on Monday inaugurated a mineral water plant established at its Ojha campus, which would later be made available in the market.
The inauguration ceremony of the Riva Premium Drinking Water Plant was presided over by DUHS Vice Chancellor Ojha campus Prof Dr Masood Hameed Khan. Prof Khan claimed the water was processed in a highly hygienic environment using vital and state of the art reverse osmosis (RO) desalination technology - a semi permeable membrane separation process.
The university would provide the water to all the hospitals and education institutions on subsidised rates, he added.
Keeping in consideration the diseases caused by contaminated water, he said water was a source of life thereby the DUHS established the plant for producing quality drinking water for the benefit of the masses.
“Riva water conforms to the highest standard of purity and safety as every batch is tested in the laboratory whereas experts ensure quality as per international standards.” He claimed the water was of a high quality, approved by Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority.
PSQCA Deputy Director Waiz Akram-ul-Haq said drinking water sources were subject to contamination and required appropriate treatment to remove disease-causing agents. “It is heartening to see that Dow University established state of the art reverse osmosis (RO) desalination technology for water purification,” he said while appreciating the efforts of Prof Khan and his team.
