Jang Economic Session: PTI’s 100-day plan seems a political stunt: speakers

LAHORE: PTI’s 100-day plan is a good thing but Imran Khan has not explained ways to implement the plan and which team will execute it. It seems a political stunt in ongoing political scenario.

These views were expressed by the experts at Jang Economic Session on ‘PTI’s 100-day plan – experts’ opinion’. The panellists were Zahid Mubashir, Altaf Qamar, Pervaiz Hanif, Rana Sajjad and Farooq Tariq while the session was hosted by Sikindar Lodhi.

Zahid Mubashir said PTI’s 100 days plan gives a hope to people when other parties are not making promises with them. He said discussion on civil reforms, health, education and social sector development on political platform is a good thing and all parties should give a positive input for the implementation of the plan. He said water crisis in Sindh was the provincial government’s issue and called for ending politics of blames.

Altaf Qamar said Imran Khan is a hardworking politician and Pakistan needs leader like Imran to make big decisions to implement the plan. He said 100 days plan seems to be a dream but it could be implemented. He suggested that the PTI should gradually discuss implementation procedure of the plan. He said Imran Khan gave the plan in haste which could be improved after further deliberation. He said the country will benefit even if the half plan is implemented.

Pervaiz Hanif said every party gives its agenda before elections and the PTI’s 100 days plan is also the part of politics. He said Pervez Musharraf, Yousaf Raza Gillani and PML-N also had given 100 days plan but they never implemented their plans. He said the procedure of implementing 100 days plan should be shared with people as they are fed up with promises and practical steps could revive their trust.

Rana Sajjad said political parties in US, France, New Zeeland and other countries give 100-day plan. Imran Khan has good intention but no clear policy was given to implement the plan. He said Imran Khan needs more homework for implementation of the plan. He should have presented the plan after consulting with the experts.

Farooq Tariq said 100 days plan is a good positive step in Pakistan’s politics but it is a non-implementable economic plan. He said none of the points in the plan has seriously been discussed so it seems a political stunt to befool people. He said instead of making claims of creating 10 million jobs and constructing 10 million houses, people should have been told how the plan would be executed. He said accountability should be done on equal basis and transparent elections could ensure democracy.
