One hundred wishes
The PTI has presented its agenda for the first 100 days of its governance if it came into power. This is a good precedent, which other major political parties should follow so that voters know what they can expect from the new government. It must be pointed out that the PTI has shown that it has a real grasp on the major issues faced by Pakistanis. The proposed actions are well-thought-out and it seems that the party has done proper research.
However, one area which is important for overall progress – especially our strategic and geopolitical interests – has not been touched by the party. There is no mention of our foreign policy. The party should talk about how it can improve the country’s image abroad. It should discuss the steps that it will take to improve relations with all major international blocks. The party should focus on how it will maintain a balance between the rival groups – Saudi Arabia and Iran – within the Muslim world. Overall, it is a good start by the PTI. If it can implement its plan, it will prove to be a real game-changer for Pakistan.

The 100-day plan unveiled by the PTI on Sunday (May 20) can best be called fanciful and tantamount to living in a fool’s paradise. Imran Khan has begun to lead the nation down the garden path through such vain promises and ridiculously impracticable commitments. The PTI chairman is habitually building castles in the air. It is necessary for a politician of his standing to think better of tilting at windmills and rise above petty political shenanigans to achieve power at all costs.
Coming back to his 100-day plan, it is nothing more than a laughable wish list – like planting one billion trees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He should stop pulling a fast one on the people and come up with some feasible plans aimed at progress and prosperity in the country.
